PRAYING IN THE POWER OF GOD
Minister Mengue M. Eka-Abila
John 14:13-14
“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that
the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing
in my name, I will do it.”
Luke 10:18-20
“And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from
heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall be any means
hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits
are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are
written in heaven.
Remember the slogan: “Little prayer, little power. More prayer,
more power.”
Remember the song: “Whose report will you believe?”
Whose report will you believe?
We shall believe the report of the Lord?
(Repeat)
His report says I am healed
His report says I am free
His report says I am healed
His report says Victory!!!
1. How to pray without power:
- Be self-centered instead of Christ-centered (2 Tim.3:1-5)
- Be fearful or shy about your faith in Christ (2 Tim. 1:7)
- Be naturally or intellectually oriented = doubt (James 1:6-7;
Rom. 8:5)
- Be led by circumstances (5 senses): James 1:5
- Be double-minded Straddle the fence: James 1:5
- Be bitter and unforgiving
- Live in guilt (Rom. 7:25)
2. What does it take to pray in the power of God, meaning,
with RESULTS?
- Be born again: i.e., born in the Spirit (John 3:3)
- Love the Lord: obeying the Lord is the irrefutable proof of
your love for Him (John 14:23-24).
- Dwell in the Word
- Obey His Word
- Know the Lord
- Be a disciple, not just a believer: Love God’s People
as God loves them: “A new commandment I give you: love one
another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another…then
will the world know that you are my disciples.” (John 13:34-35)
q Deny self daily, take up the cross, and follow Jesus (Mark 8:34)
- Understand the grace principle (Eph. 2:8; Rom. 8:1-4)
- Pray with faith, in the name of Jesus (John 14:13-14)
